5 years of bliss!

On December 31st, Andrew and I celebrated 5 years of marriage. It is hard to believe that we have shared our lives for 5 years. I have loved every minute of it too! It all started my senior year of high school. This great looking guy(fitting the tall, dark and handsome description to a T.) walked into my life. I actually had a boyfriend at the time so I only noticed his dashing looks and nothing further. But then, something happened and I found myself thinking about this handsome boy. I was twitter-payted! I lied and said I wasn't into him, but I don't think I really fooled anybody. I mean come on! I was a football trainer for heaven sakes and he was a football player. A pretty great one too! I couldn't help but fall in love with the guy. On top of that he went to church with me. Finally my heart won out and I was completely his. The only problem was, for some strange reason, he never asked me out. Sure he was nice and talked to me, but for the whole school year he never once asked me out on a date or anything. Finally my senior prom was coming soon and I still didn't have a date. I guess people bugged him enough and he finally decided he would ask me. I remember the night of the phone call vividly! I was jumping out of my skin because he FINALLY asked me out!!!

But still the guy didn't act very interested. So I decided oh well, I am leaving for college and there will be plenty of guys to pick from. So we went to church camp and I meet a guy. I flirted shamelessly with him and guess what, it got Andrew's attention! He claims he was oblivious to me flirting with another guy but I think my plan worked perfectly. When we got home from camp he started calling more and we hung out more. Then it was time to leave for college. We were still not "officially" boyfriend and girlfriend but I knew I really liked him so I would hold out a little longer to see if our relationship went anywhere. Did I mention that Andrew is a year younger then I? Well that meant will I was off at college while he was finishing up his senior year of high school. So that meant a long distance relationship. Since he was in football I went home almost every weekend to cheer him on. We "officially" started dating in September of 2002. I can't remember the exact date though. We spent the next summer life guarding together at a church camp. Then he headed off to OSU and I went to UCO in Edmond. Once again we dealt with the semi-long distance thing. We still managed to be together every weekend though. Then I decided I had enough of the long-distance stuff. I transferred to OSU the next school year which was August of 2004. It was great being able to see each other throughout the week instead of just the weekend. We liked it so much that we decided hey! Why don't we get married! So in October he proposed. The proposal wasn't elaborate or anything. I went with him to pick out my ring but he refused to give it to me until he had asked me properly. So later that night we ran to my house to pick up something. When I was ready to leave he acted like he was tying his shoe but really he was getting down on one knee and said, "Megan, will you marry me?" Awww...so sweet!

We had three months to plan our wedding! It was wonderful! I don't think I could have done the long engagement thing. I was ready to be married to the man of my dreams! Our wedding was perfect! Simple and elegant. With it being New Years Eve we walked out to our car through a walk way of sparklers. It was BEAUTIFUL!

We honeymooned in South Padre. (Not the honeymoon I had always dreamed of but hey we were poor college students!) Our first apartment was an efficiency, so it consisted of about 500 sf. It had the living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. There wasn't even a door to our bedroom, but we were happy! We only stayed there for a few months until a larger 900 sf apartment came open! :) We had a great first year of marriage. So great that God blessed us with our beautiful baby boy during our celebration. That was quite a shock! In September of 2006, Cannon Todd Mileur was born. We were so amazed at the baby God had created through us.

This was also Andrew senior year of college as a Chemical Engineer. Not the easiest thing to be a new dad and finish such a time consuming degree, but we managed. I had to completely quit school, of course, but it was only temporary. In January, Andrew found out he had secured a job after graduation in the great state of Texas. So when May 2007 rolled around we packed our stuff and headed to our new rental house. It was wonderful! We had a 1600 sf place to spread out in finally! We watched as Cannon went through his major milestones and grew before our eyes! In October of 2008 we purchased our first home. I had been bugging Andrew for a while that it was time to expand our family, but he wasn't ready. Finally, we decided in July 2009 to start trying for our next blessing. September 2009 I was pregnant! December 2009 we found out it's a GIRL! A lot has happened in those five years. A lot of wonderful things. God has truly blessed us and is continuing to do so. I love my husband more than words can describe. He has allowed me so many privileges that I don't feel worthy of. He works so hard so that I can stay home and raise our children. He studied hard in college to secure a wonderful job that allows us to have a beautiful house, food on the table, and lots of luxuries that we don't need. Lord, thank you so much for blessing me with such an amazing husband. I do not for one second take for granted the life You have given me, because I know You had a hand in it the whole time!
So you probably notice how much our looks have changed over the years but hey, we are happy!

Ski Trip Fun

On December 26th we headed off to Durango, CO for the Mileur Family ski trip. The drive is approximately 16 hours. I was dreading the drive with Cannon because three year olds are the best at sitting still for long periods of time. Much to my surprise he did great! As long as we had something to entertain him with such as books, games, or a movie he was perfectly happy! The Lord blessed our travels for sure! We encountered some bad wintry roads but we had no problems. We arrived safely to Durango Mountain Resort on Sunday morning. Andrew, Mason, and Rachel decided to take advantage of skiing that day. So while they hit the slopes the rest of us went grocery shopping. We got there at about 6:30 a.m. that morning but check in wasn't until 4:00 p.m. I was so ready to get out of the suburban and relax in the condo, but no such luck. So at lunch we met the skiers and brought them some lunch. Travis decided to give another try at getting an early check in and was going to use the excuse of having a pregnant lady to see if we got any sympathy! We did! We got to check in right after lunch. Praise the LORD! The next three days were full of fun in the snow. The skiers left early in the morning and then Bequita, Cannon, and I ventured to the mountain around lunch. We enjoyed watching them ski, let Cannon run around in the snow, and we found a little hill that he could sled down. He had a blast! He still talks about Colorado and the snow! On December 31st, Andrew and I's 5 year anniversary, we headed back home. We got home right before midnight and rang in the New Year safe at home! I always enjoy that week of relaxation away from home! I hope we keep up the tradition of the the trip for many years to come. Hopefully next year Cannon will get to take ski lessons. And I will be able to ski again! YEA!

Christmas Vacation

What a crazy Christmas this year! It was full of traveling for us with an unexpected bilzzard in the mix. Our Christmas celebrations started early this year. We had our first Christmas on December 5th. This was just for Andrew, Cannon, and I. We had something every weekend so that was the only time we could have our little family Christmas. This year I decided it would be good for Cannon to realize that he not only receives presents but can give them as well. I picked out a present for Andrew and one for myself. I had Cannon help me wrap Andrew's beard trimmer and keep telling him over and over that this was his present to Daddy. Andrew did the same with some slippers for me. Cannon was so excited to give us our presents! He still remembers that those are the presents he got for us. We limit the amount of presents we get Cannon because he has about 10 people that buy for him. So we picked about three things we wanted to get him. He got a new robe and houseshoes, pjs, a colorwonders paint set, and the grand finale was a shark vacuum! Yep! You read that right, we got our child a vacuum cleaner! HE LOVES IT! I don't know why but his is obsessed with vacuums and always wants to use my big one. It is so heavy to push for him that I thought getting a lightweight battery operated one would be best. He uses it everyday!

The next Christmas was with the Mileur Family the weekend of December 18th. Andrew's mom and dad, Mason, Brenden, Kristen, Caeden, and Rachel all came. We had fun exchanging gifts and watching Cannon and Caeden play. We also had a yummy Christmas meal. We got a really cute video of Cannon and Caeden that I will have to post. On Monday morning we headed to Pryor. I rode there with my inlaws because Andrew had to work until Wednesday. I got to spend time with my family and see Candice and Cooper.

On Thursday, Christmas Eve, we had the Dees Family coming for our annual get together. A lot of things happened that day to change our plans. First the weather forecast was saying lots of snow! So we planned on having everyone come earlier for the festivities. Then we got a call saying Jane-Jane and Papa couldn't make it at all because she had to go to the hospital to get platelets. This was a huge disappointment to us all. It wouldn't be the same without them there. So the only people who ended up making it was Uncle Larry and Aunt Norma, and Uncle Scott. We still had a great time. We went to the Christmas Eve candlelight service. Cannon got to hold a candle of his own. It was a little scary but he did pretty well! He was a little upset when we blew out the flame at the end. He said 'Hey! Give me more fire!" We got back home and had a wonderful dinner then exchanged our secret santa gifts. Dana and Michael came earlier that day but had to leave before the weather got to bad. We watched that night as the weather went from bad to worse! It was an unbelieveable sight. We woke up to a BEAUTIFUL white Christmas! I think there was around a foot of snow. We opened presents and then I bundled Cannon up to play in the snow. He didn't have any gloves though. That was a big mistake. He lasted about 5 minutes before his little hands started stinging. You would have thought the child was serioulsy injured the way he was crying! We finally got his hands thawled out and he was as good as new! Then it was time to take the dangerous journey to Tulsa to do Christmas at my Mom's. The 45 minute drive to Tulsa took about 2 hours! Once again we missed out on some of our family because of the weather. But we quickly opened presents there because we had to get back on the rode. We had to make it back to Texas so that we could head out on our Mileur Family ski trip the next day. The 4 hour trip back home took 6! It was not a fun drive! But God watched over us and we made it home safetly. I will post about our ski trip maybe tomorrow!

Madison Jane Mileur AKA "Mady Jane"

Here are the pictures of our baby girl! We are so excited to know for sure that a little girl will be joining our family. I am so glad my instinct was right and I didn't have to apologize to my son for thinking he was a girl! I have had the name Madison Jane picked out since I was pregnant with Cannon. I thought about changing the name but I just couldn't. I love the name Madison Jane. It has been the name I have pictured our little girl with from the beginning. I don't know why I picked Madison, but I just think it is a beautiful name. Jane however has special meaning. Jane is my grandmother's name as well as part of my first name. My Jane-Jane (which is what we call her) has been sick with cancer for a while now. We are so blessed to have her with us still but I know time is precious and we never know when God will decided to bring her home. I am so glad that she now knows she will have a great granddaughter named after her. She was thrilled when I told her I was having a Mady Jane! I hope my Jane-Jane knows how much she means to me and that Jane is not just a cute middle name, it is because of her that our precious daughter will carry such special name. I am honored to be named after her and I hope my daughter will one day understand the special name she holds.
Cannon was really excited to find out he is having a sister as well! He loves to listen to her "harp beep" aka heart beat on our heart monitor. Every time she kicks he says "Mooom! she kicked me!" Great! I guess that is already starting! :) He tells me that he can't wait to hold the baby and rock the baby. Then he proceeds to jiggle my belly in a rocking motion and says "sweet baby. I love you." He still says he wants to punch the baby, so we haven't quite mastered the whole idea of you only do sweet things to the baby. Hopefully he will grasp that concept before she is out of the safety of my womb! I know he will be a great big brother. I have already trained him to say "Hey boys, stay away from my sister!"

HOOORAYYY! My maternal instict is not wrong! We will be welcoming a baby girl in May!! I am so excited and can't wait to bring her into this world. Cannon is excited to have a sister too! Today anyway! We will see what he says the next time someone asks him. He changes his mind quite frequently! Tomorrow is the day!!!

Tomorrow we find out if we are welcoming a boy or a girl into our family! I am so excited!! I really can't wait to know. I want to know the first minute I am pregnant. I wish I could be one of those women who wait until the baby is born to find out, but that would be so hard! I like to take advantage of technology and use it to its full extent! So tomorrow when they peek between the legs I hope we get a definite answer! I hope the little one will cooperate so that we will know without a doubt what the baby's sex is.

I have started feeling the baby move some. It is usually at night when I am laying still that I will notice movement. I also noticed if I sit in a certain postion and my belly is squished too much they baby doesn't like it! I can't wait to just see that baby tomorrow too. It is neat to watch the baby moving around, kicking, sucking its thumb, etc. So I am so excited about tomorrow! Stay tuned for the big announcement!

A Possible Move in the Future

Well I have learned some very stressful news....Andrew may be transferred to Houston. Sad, but true. His company has been laying people off by the handful every month. It all started earlier this year when projects weren't coming in due to the economy. By the grace of God Andrew has made it through several rounds of layoffs. Now they are to the point where if he wants to keep his job his only option may be moving to the Houston office. Which means starting all over again for us. The good thing is we have an opportunity to get closer to family with this. Andrew decided to put out new job applications in Oklahoma and in Longview,TX (where his parents live). So I really hope that something comes from one of those places to avoid the move to Houston. I want to get closer to family, not further away!

In the past year we have bought our first home, joined a wonderful church, and made some great friends. We have lived in the area for about two years and it took us that long to get where we are now. I don't look forward to going through that process again. Now we have to worry about selling our house too! That does not sound like a fun process. I have a hard time keeping my house nice and tidy on a day to day basis. I don't even want to think about getting an unexpected call from the realtor saying hey I want to show your house in an hour! Yikes!

Another added stress is the fact that we are having a baby! I have no idea when the move would take place or where I will be in my pregnancy. Hopefully everything will work out and I won't have to worry about have a home birth or anything like that! :) I need my epidural! I think the thing I am most sad about is I won't be able to decorate the baby's nursery exactly the way I want. If our house is going to be on the market we need to keep the walls as neutral as possible. I have the cutest idea for a little girls room that I guess I won't get to do anytime soon. :(

I absolutely HATE not knowing what is going to happen. I like to plan and have details worked out. It is impossible to do when we have no idea where we will end up and when. I know that God is in control. He knows our needs and will provide for us. He loves us and doesn't want us to worry about these details He already has worked out. I just have to put my trust in Him and let Him lead us where HE wants us!
